18032912 Canada Inc., doing business as Pako ("Pako", "we", "our", or "us"), is a corporation incorporated federally in Canada and registered in the Province of Quebec. We operate the Pako mobile application and the website at meetpako.com (together, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to comply with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector ("Law 25"), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended ("CCPA/CPRA"), where those laws apply to you.
By creating an account or using Pako, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
As required by Quebec Law 25, we have designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information. You can reach this person for any privacy question or to exercise your rights at:
Privacy Officer, 18032912 Canada Inc.
Email: request@meetpako.com
We use personal information to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your dog's health data for advertising.
Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Services), your consent (for optional features), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services), and compliance with legal obligations.
Some Pako features use artificial intelligence. When you use an AI feature, the relevant input — for example a photo of your dog, an image of food packaging, or a message you type — is sent to our AI processor to generate a result. We currently use Anthropic (the provider of Claude) as an AI processor under an agreement that limits use of your data to providing the service. Data submitted through this business arrangement is not used to train the provider's models.
AI results are informational estimates, not professional advice or a diagnosis. They can be incomplete or wrong. Always use your own judgment and consult a licensed veterinarian for your dog's health. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
We share personal information only in these limited situations:
We use trusted vendors that process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only to provide services to us:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Cloud database, authentication, and file storage (backend hosting) |
| Anthropic (Claude) | AI processing of scans, images, and assistant messages |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management and entitlement verification |
| Apple (App Store) | Payment processing and billing for subscriptions |
We also use providers for crash reporting and analytics. When we launch on Google Play, Google will process payments for Android subscriptions.
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or lawful government request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you and with your consent.
Some of our service providers store or process data outside your province or country, including in the United States. When we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection, including through contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required. If you are in Quebec, we assess privacy risks before communicating personal information outside the province as required by Law 25.
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account in the app, we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except information we must retain to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations, or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest through our infrastructure provider, access controls, and per-user data isolation. Photos you upload are stored in private storage accessible only through short-lived signed links. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a confidentiality incident that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights. To exercise any of them, contact us at request@meetpako.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first. You can also access and delete much of your data directly in the app's settings.
You may access and rectify your information, request that we stop disseminating information or de-index a link where the law allows, and receive certain computerized personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
You may access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and request data portability. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request access and deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Pako. The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at request@meetpako.com and we will delete it.
Our website uses a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies needed to operate the site and understand aggregate usage. The Pako app does not use advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
